Cutty Sark is a blend with a lot of grain Whisky in it. The single malts added are mostly from the Highlands, but there are a few peated drams in the mix too. The result is a consistent, but regionally ambiguous Scotch Whisky. You will find a bit of apple and tart citrus in the profile along with a "wet hay in the field" aroma and flavor. There is just a bit of smokiness to let you know it is there. The consistency is what made it popular as a base for Whisky-based cocktails.
