Member Reviews and Ratings of Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye
Paul,
Solid, basic.
J,
I drank too much Crown Royal when I was younger so I was hesitant to purchase this one. Read all the hype and gave it a shot. Not bad, but nothing special.
Cliff,
It has a different test to it. It's not bad, just different.
Philip,
Meh. Not bad.
Bill,
To dry and a bit harsh.
Matt,
Sweet for a rye whiskey, vanilla, caramel, and butterscotch notes. Little peppery finish.
Bob,
A bit too easy
Brad,
Semi-sweet, VERY smooth. No burn.
Kent,
I found it very pleasing... nothing really special but made a great Old Fashioned! (especially for the price)
Benjamin,
Very bland and soft on the palate. I get a strong saccharine aftertaste with this rye. Not my cup of tea.
guest,
As most crown royal it is a bit too sweet for my everyday whiskey but still very good.
Jim,
nice bite like most ryes
Antti,
It is a good, intense, Rye Whisky that has an aromatic birth; while a rich & spicy life leads to a spicy death of medium length.
Benedikt,
Good, but not great
guest,
The best ;)
Luis,
Simply phenomenal. They call it “gently spicy”; I call it perfectly proportioned. Mix it, sip it solo.... she makes a cold winter night warm.
Ott,
Too spicy. Barely could make out some of the other flavours.
Mathew,
Hints of cinnamon apple and oak on the nose. Immediately peppery and spicy with sweet undertones. I’m not big on ryes and probably wouldn’t drink this neat but it would make a decent mixer.
Stephen,
A surprise for sure. Traditional crown royal flair with a distinct rye flavor.
Mike,
Pretty good , I like all whiskey, and drink them all regular, mostly bourbon with Irish , scotch, rye and Canadian mixed in.
Rye can be too spicy sometimes, I lean towards sweet .
This rye is totally different from traditional rye , the spice I got was minty and sweet , candy canes and peppermint.
I rather enjoy it!
Brian,
Of the inexpensive Crown Royal's my favorite. Goes great with Manhattans
Brian,
Lighter than expected, almost gets lost in a Sazerac, but makes a great Manhattan.
Timothy,
Way better than I was expecting, very nice taste!
Jackie,
Lovely fall whiskey - sweet and spicy
Jeff,
Good, clean smell. Goes down smooth enough. But not one that I really loved. It was good, but not great.
Nick,
Really solid, reasonably priced, Canadian. Loved the spice and black pepper finish.
Kevin,
Not a rye guy typically but this is tasty stuff
guest,
Not spicy enough to be a good rye for me. Disappointing. Young.
Paul,
Really surprising flavor! Very very nice product from Crown. Cant believe I have it on my shelf. Mixes incredibly well as well.
Grant,
Definitely not as good as regular crown.
Matt,
The smell and taste
Doug,
Like the rest of the Crown line, smooth. Great flavors.
ERIC,
Horrible
Nathan,
Smooth and enjoyable to drink.
Charles,
Add a couple maraschino cherries & you have a great cocktail. But straight is better.
Adam,
This is one of my favorite ryes, it has just enough bite.
John,
Sour. Don’t know how this got best Canadian whiskey in 2017 or win any awards. Don’t believe stickers slapped on the box or fancy bags the bottles come in. Such a marketing gimmick. Maybe will have to venture back to try it again in the future to see if my tastebuds still agree.
Michael,
I was shocked that I loved this, I'm not big on rye. But I did love it, goes great in coffee too, Just don't tell my boss...
guest,
Very good
Sneh,
Meh
Jason,
Awesome and its finest is amazing.
Robert,
Fantastically well balanced rye with a smooth finish. Ideal for mixing when you look for more of the butters and accents to shine through. A great go to for any occasion.
kely,
By FAR THE
Jason,
I bought the bottle the year it was world whiskey of the year. Simply the best rye I've ever had. Following years were good, but not even close to the the bottle I keep in my cellar.
Zachary,
This was my first whiskey I was able to try and have always loved it as a classic go to for a good smooth flavor
Sean,
It’s a good whiskey are there better ones sure but I thought it was a good whiskey to try for my first rye.
Charles,
Smooth with the right mix of spice & sweet. Great on the rocks.
Lars,
Love the way it tastes neat and mixed with coca cola
Cancel,
I am a big fan of crown royal the taste is great love it over ice smooth to the taste will buy again
Thomas,
I have also been a fan of traditional Crown Royal. This has similar notes except spicier and a bit sweeter as well. A nice change of pace.
Nick,
Excellent flavor platform extremely smooth has a nice rye bite
Clifton,
It’s just an everyday go to spirit
Alice,
Great sipper
Daniel,
Good as a mixer. Not a fan of Rye.
Jonathan,
Great
sarah,
Not sure how it was whiskey of the year, but it's not awful
Shawn,
Alright
Peter,
It's freakin' good - just like all Canadians. My wife is Canadian
guest,
Nose: rice, pepper, rye grain.
Palate: smooth, beautiful rye taste, with rice alcohol finish (rough).
Overall: nicely priced, always was a big fan of Crown Royal.
guest,
Spicey, bold rye at 90% of the mash bill. Its a hot one and the after taste is not my favorite. Old fashions and Manhattans for this one.
guest,
Smooth. Easy to sip. Big Rye taste.
Andrew,
Mirroring another reviewer, surprisingly delicious. That pow! of butterscotch is captivating.
