All about Corsair

Corsair Artisan Gin is made at the Corsair Distillery in ‘Bourbon Country’ (it has two locations; Nashville, TN and Bowling Green, KY). Made in small batches in a 50-gallon hand-hammered pot still, the recipe is undisclosed.

The Gin is made using the vapor infusion method of distillation, which is where the botanicals are suspended in a basket above the alcohol. When heated, the vapors travel up the column of the still and infuse with the flavor of the botanicals.

While the producers keep the botanicals a secret, we’d wager that alongside juniper, this Gin features lots of citrus, coriander seeds, and herbs such as rosemary.

All about Corsair distillery

Corsair Distillery was founded in 2008 by friends Darek Bell and Andrew Webber. At the time, they were working on a bio-diesel fuel and agreed that making Spirits would be more fun – although their journey wasn’t without problems.

Back then, Tennessee laws prohibited commercial distilling, so Corsair opened in nearby Bowling Green, Kentucky. Bell and Webber lobbied to change the law, and eventually opened their second distillery in Nashville in 2010.

Today, the company has a vast Spirits line-up, including a number of different Whiskies (including one made from Quinoa, yep, you read that right!), Rums, Absinthes, and of course, Gins. There’s an Artisan Gin, a Barrel-aged Gin (aged in casks which previously held Corsair’s Spiced Gin), and even a Genever.
