An award-winning Rye from Michigan.

Coppercraft Distillery was founded in 2012 in Holland, Michigan, on the manufacturing coast of West Michigan to celebrate the American craftsman with the finest craft Spirits. There’s a rich legacy of industrious workers and craftsmen there who export their high-quality goods all over the country. The good folk of Coppercraft Distillery pledged to do the same — but with Spirits. In 2018, they were named the Michigan Distillery of the Year by the New York International Spirits Competition.

Distilling, sourcing, and blending the finest ingredients from all over the U.S., their craft Bourbons are heavily aged and release strong oaky flavors, tobacco, cinnamon, toasted nuts, and toffee. The award-winning Coppercraft range also includes Vodka, Gin, Rum, and premium canned cocktails.

Coppercraft Distillery's Rye Whiskey won Gold at the 2021 New York International Spirits Competition. We thought we’d just get that out of the way. Anyway, this is a blend of at least 2YO distilled and sourced Rye barrels. Bottled at 90 proof, this small-batch craft Rye boasts flavors of cocoa, malt, and classic peppercorn spice. It’s amazing when savored neat but it really won our heart in classic Rye cocktails such as a Manhattan.

A decade ago there were only 6 brands of Rye Whiskey hailing from Kentucky, nowadays there are more than 50!
Rye - think of it as Bourbon's edgier cousin. It’s known for what many call a spicy or fruity flavor. Rye (distilled from at least 51% Rye) is not on the sweet side and tends to have a spicier body. That’s why the character of a cocktail made from Rye, instead of Bourbon, is drier.
George Washington famously loved his Rye Whiskey. In fact, after he served as the first president of the United States, he returned to his farm at Mount Vernon and started a small Rye distillery of his own.
Rye sparked the first revolution after the American Independence. It was called the Whiskey Rebellion, and it arose when the government tried to tax Whiskey and enforce the taxation on distillers. The lesson here? Don't mess with a Whiskey drinker's dram.
