Copper & Kings x Flaviar limited beer-finished Brandy.

When Joe and Lesley Heron founded Copper & Kings in 2014 in Louisville, KY, they took the idea of Brandy, tore it apart and built something truly American. Their Brandy is influenced by American Whiskey and music and there’s no shady fakery involved. Everything is pure, authentic and natural. One of their secret weapons is slow distillation at low temperatures, exclusively in copper pot-stills. You’ll find American Brandy, Absinthe and Dry Gin in their lineup, but don’t expect the usual.

Copper & Kings Brandy Flaviar Single Barrel Selection is an exclusive and quite extravagant affair. It’s a blend of mostly French Colombard (60%) and Chenin Blanc (30%) grapes with a touch of Muscat de Alexandrie (10%). It rested in ex-Bourbon medium-char American white oak barrels for six years and received 21 months of finishing in Sierra Nevada Ovila Quad barrels. Ovila Quad is, by the way, a Belgian-style Abbey Ale that was brewed with monks from New Clairvaux. The bottled opulence was created especially for Flaviar. Expect real character and depth.

Brandy was invented in the 16th century by a sneaky Dutch merchant who learned how to remove water from Wine and save cargo space. He then added water again and called it “Bradwijn”, which means “burned wine”.
Brandies can help digestion, so they are perfect after meals. They were and are still considered medicine. Basically, any fruit that can be fermented can be distilled and turned into Brandy.
Nevertheless, the best Brandies are required to preserve the concentrated flavor of the used fruit.

At the Copper & Kings they paint their barrelheads orange.
They currently age their Absinthe in juniper barrels from Serbia.
