Rich, round, fruity, and downright delicious.

Compass Box isn’t a distillery and it isn’t a distributor. Compass Box is a story. It’s a great story that began in the year 2000 when John Glaser—a marketing director for Johnnie Walker decided to break out on his own. Think about it for a moment. John is an American working for one of the most iconic brand names in the word of Scotch Whisky and—like a typical American—thinks he can do it better on his own. It takes a lot of Whisky stones to step out of a dream job with Whisky perks and start a business like this. He buys bulk output from some of the best distilleries in Scotland—just like Johnnie Walker—and then creates custom blends which he finishes and ages to create great Whisky.

The Compass Box offices are located on Great King Street in London, and that’s where this line of Whisky gets it name. Compass Box Great King Street Artist's Blend was designed to be sophisticated, but approachable. It is a blend of some of the best single malts in Scotland with an emphasis on the Highland style and a bit of grain spirit for smoothness. The signature notes will be rich, round, and fruity. It is a great way to introduce yourself or a friend to high quality blended Scotch neat or in cocktails. Once you taste it, you will see why it was voted Blended Whisky of the Year in 2012.

First-class Whiskies are taxed not only by the state but also by the angels. This refers to the 4% of Whisky that evaporates from the barrels every year, a phenomenon known as the angel’s share.
Whisky or Whiskey? The spelling differs geographically. In Scotland, Japan, and some other parts of the world, distilleries usually spell it Whisky; in Ireland and the USA, they spell it Whiskey.
Beer and malt Whisky seem to have quite a bit in common. Both drinks begin with malted barley, which deliver the enzymes and sugars needed for fermentation when steeped in hot water. The two go their separate ways at the wash stage, where they're fermented or aged to become the adult beverages you know and love.
Is Scotch always Scottish? What do you think? Yes. The answer is yes.
Can Scotch go bad? Technically, an unopened bottle of Scotch can last forever. Air is the only true evil to Whisky; once the liquid is oxidized it is no longer immortal. After opening, as long as you store your Whisky in a cool, dry place, it will last another 5 years.
Whisky distilling goes way back to 1494 when the first recorded batch was made by a posse of monks who acquired about 60 gallons of barley and decided to turn it into "aqua vitae". They created the first 1,500 bottles of Scotch in History.
