Character Goatson
The Lebron James of Straight Rye Whiskey.

In 1830, a baby called Edmund Haynes Taylor Jr. was born and he became the father of modern Whiskey (when he grew up, naturally). Raised by the twelfth US President... We thought that was worth mentioning. He made top-notch Whiskeys and made sure the Bottled-in-Bond law was passed. So it's no wonder Buffalo Trace Distillery decided to name their fantastic limited expression after the dude.

Colonel E.H. Taylor Straight Rye Whiskey is made from a mash of rye and malted barley, bottled in bond (a product of a single distiller) at 100 proof. Not only is this rare treasure a homage to booze history, it's really actually good! Dark spices, caramel undertones, cinnamon and vanilla hiding in the back... Look, you don't have to listen to us; Jim Murray himself gave this bottle an almost perfect score of 97 points and said it shouldn't be left on a shelf.

George Washington famously loved his Rye Whiskey. In fact, after he served as the first president of the United States, he returned to his farm at Mount Vernon and started a small Rye distillery of his own.
Rye sparked the first revolution after the American Independence. It was called the Whiskey Rebellion, and it arose when the government tried to tax Whiskey and enforce the taxation on distillers. The lesson here? Don't mess with a Whiskey drinker's dram.
A decade ago there were only 6 brands of Rye Whiskey hailing from Kentucky, nowadays there are more than 50!
Rye - think of it as Bourbon's edgier cousin. It’s known for what many call a spicy or fruity flavor. Rye (distilled from at least 51% Rye) is not on the sweet side and tends to have a spicier body. That’s why the character of a cocktail made from Rye, instead of Bourbon, is drier.
