A perfectly aged blend of Single Malts finished in Port wood for a rich, velvety dram.

In 1993 the movie Jurassic Park came out, Whitney Houston’s remake of “I Will Always Love You” spent ten weeks as the #1 song in America, and Alan Shayne founded Spirit Imports.

Alan had already spent decades in and around the Spirits business, and he even founded The Scotch Malt Whisky Society of America. But he set out to create his own brands of premium Spirits that he could be proud of. In the nearly three decades since his daughters Lauren and Gabrielle have joined the firm and together they manage a portfolio of eight brands and dozens of releases.

The Classic Cask is a brand of amazing single barrel and strictly limited releases of Single Malt from some of the best distilleries. Each bottle is numbered in series and once a release has run dry it is gone forever

The Classic Cask 23 Year Old Port Finish is part of a quartet of twenty-three year-old Spirits released in tandem. All are comprised of single-casks procured from Speyside, Highland, and Island distilleries — each hand selected by Master Blender David Hallgarten of the Glenaden Distilling Company. They were matured in their original casks for a full twenty-three years before being married and divided into quarters for finishing and bottling without chill-filtering. This Port finished release spent an additional six months in first-fill Port pipes.

90% of all Scotch Whiskies sold are Blends.
Scotch Whisky is seldom aged in new barrels. Bourbon and Tennessee Whiskey casks are usually used for maturation. In addition to that, Whisky is often matured or finished in various wine casks such as Sherry or Port.
Beer and malt Whisky seem to have quite a bit in common. Both drinks begin with malted barley, which deliver the enzymes and sugars needed for fermentation when steeped in hot water. The two go their separate ways at the wash stage, where they're fermented or aged to become the adult beverages you know and love.
Single Malt Scotch Whisky is made in Scotland using a pot still distillation process at a single distillery, with malted barley as the only grain ingredient. It must be matured in oak casks in Scotland for at least three years (most Single Malts are matured longer, though).
Categories of Scotch Whisky: Single malt, Blended malt (formerly called Vatted malt), blended, single grain and blended grain Scotch.
Scotland is home to more than 20 million casks of maturing Whisky. That’s four for every person living there. Nuts!
