Character Goatson
A crisp and light blended Malt finished in Caribbean Rum casks for an exotic note.

In 1993 the movie Jurassic Park came out, Whitney Houston’s remake of “I Will Always Love You” spent ten weeks as the #1 song in America, and Alan Shayne founded Spirit Imports.

Alan had already spent decades in and around the Spirits business, and he even founded The Scotch Malt Whisky Society of America. But he set out to create his own brands of premium Spirits that he could be proud of. In the nearly three decades since his daughters Lauren and Gabrielle have joined the firm and together they manage a portfolio of eight brands and dozens of releases.

The Classic Cask is a brand of amazing single barrel and strictly limited releases of Single Malt from some of the best distilleries. Each bottle is numbered in series and once a release has run dry it is gone forever

The Classic Cask 23 Year Caribbean Rum Finish is part of a quartet of twenty-three year-old Spirits released in tandem. All are comprised of single-casks procured from Speyside, Highland, and Island distilleries — each hand selected by Master Blender David Hallgarten of the Glenaden Distilling Company. They were matured in their original casks for a full twenty-three years before being married and divided into quarters for finishing and bottling without chill-filtering. This tasty dram spent an additional six months in casks that held solera-aged Caribbean Rum, delivering note of exotic fruits and spices on the back palate.

Scotch Whisky is seldom aged in new barrels. Bourbon and Tennessee Whiskey casks are usually used for maturation. In addition to that, Whisky is often matured or finished in various wine casks such as Sherry or Port.
Categories of Scotch Whisky: Single malt, Blended malt (formerly called Vatted malt), blended, single grain and blended grain Scotch.
Whisky distilling goes way back to 1494 when the first recorded batch was made by a posse of monks who acquired about 60 gallons of barley and decided to turn it into "aqua vitae". They created the first 1,500 bottles of Scotch in History.
90% of all Scotch Whisky released in the market is a blend. That’s a hell of a lot.
Scotland is home to more than 20 million casks of maturing Whisky. That’s four for every person living there. Nuts!
90% of all Scotch Whiskies sold are Blends.
