There’s no mistaking this Old Tom Gin.

Citadelle is well-known and well-loved for making French Gin. The Original Gin was first produced in 1996, with a Réserve, which is aged in five different wood barrels for five months, joining the lineup in the following years.

In 2016, master distiller Alexandre Gabriel launched a new type of Old Tom Gin, as part of his Extremes collection, which sees the creation of a handful of new spirits each year, either as part of the Citadelle range, or one of the other Maison Ferrand brands, which also includes Plantation Rum and Pierre Ferrand Cognac.

While the products in the Extremes collection are designed to be limited edition, Citadelle Extremes Old Tom No Mistake Gin was wildly popular, and the initial run of 6,500 bottles wasn’t enough; so the decision was made to incorporate the Gin into the Citadelle family permanently. Old Tom is a sweeter style of Gin, which was made popular back in the 19th century, when the quality of Gin was poor and the sweetened flavor made it more drinkable. Citadelle’s Old Tom is made with a Caribbean brown sugar, which is caramelized before being added to the Réserve Gin base. It is then aged for three to four months in wooden casks.

The floral style of the Réserve Gin base is rounded by the sweet, caramelized sugar, with the barrel aging adding depth to the flavor.

Ratings & Reviews
Very drinkable and smooth, but a good deal sweeter than I prefer.
Remarkable! I’m not a fan of gin but this, this is simply amazing. Put this in some tonic water with a single cube of ice. You won’t regret it.
This is a fantastic gin. Hints of cinnamon and anise. Maybe a touch too much sweetness, and not suited to every cocktail, but overall a great gin and a refreshing change-up on the style.
So far in my young tasting life...been doing it now since April, this Gin is by far the best I've had. Smooth from start to finish. Hint of cinnamon smell, but I am not a cinnamon fan and don't taste it at all. Really quality gin.
