One of the world’s classic blended Scotch Whiskies with a famous smooth character and a consistent quality fit for a queen.

Chivas Regal was born in the Strathisla Distillery which was founded in 1786, making it the oldest continuously operating distillery in Scotland. The Chivas Brothers — purveyors of gourmet foods and Liquors since 1801 — received a royal warrant to supply fine Scotch Whisky to Queen Victoria at Balmoral Castle in 1843. Thus the "Regal" in the name. Recognizing that they would need a consistent supply of very high quality Spirit, they decided to blend it themselves, and Strathisla was their primary source. So, they bought the distillery. Today, Chivas Regal is one of the most popular Scotch Whisky brands in the world, producing a range of Whiskies for a world-wide audience.

Chivas Regal 12 is THE core of the Chivas range. It’s the foundational dram that launched a legend. This classic Blended Scotch Whisky includes some of the finest Single Malts and Grain Spirits in Scotland — including a generous portion of Speyside Single Malts — each one having aged a minimum of twelve years. Over the years it has amassed a record of near universal acclaim for their exceptionally smooth and consistent Scotch Whisky dram.

Scotch Whisky is seldom aged in new barrels. Bourbon and Tennessee Whiskey casks are usually used for maturation. In addition to that, Whisky is often matured or finished in various wine casks such as Sherry or Port.

Ratings & Reviews
Jeff
Jeff,
Wasn't bad, but I just didn't like it. The only way I can really describe it is that it's bland. It was drinkable neat, which is good (and why I rated it above a 5), but otherwise I didn't like much about it.

Highly under rated. solid !

Stefan
Stefan,
Easy to drink whisky, perfect for a game of poker or serving after a few beers to top off a good evening.

Christopher
Christopher,
Simple, but solid - maybe underrated even. Generic vanilla and caramel with some smoke in the background for contrast - and there’s nothing wrong with that! Cheers to Hunter S. Thompson’s go to drink

Ira
Ira,
An old unopened bottle of the 12 year old stuff, probably sitting there for 40 years, from my late father's house. Opened up because why not? He never enjoyed it but he wasn't a whiskey drinker, I am. Not bad stuff. I usually prefer bourbon, rye, or single malt scotch. But blends can be nice. I'm no snob, I love Monkey Shoulder. This is an ok blend, not particularly memorable. Wish it were better, it waited all those years for somebody to love it.

Oskari
Oskari,
Honestly not that great, in this price range there are far better whiskies. There isn’t anything special about the whisky.

Pamela
Pamela,
Drank it a long time ago. Passable, but things I would rather drink now.

This one surprised me. Pretty good and inexpensive.

Nose is better than the taste. Nose is sweet vanilla, little malty with hints of apple. Taste is kind of disappointing, initially sweet with some spice and orange zest but not much else. Adding water added some caramel on the front end. Probably would only drink it mixed into a cocktail.

Very decent, relatively smooth and a good buy for this money. I prefer Johnnie Black, but spend a bit more and you've really better SM's like Old Pulteney 12, Laphroaig 10 or Glenmorangie 10.

Mighty whisky. One of the best in its class. Long oak finish worth it!

guest,
Tastes kind of sweet and is smooth enough for the tongue. Goes very well with Coke. Packaging and bottle look beautiful.
