Top reviews for Chapter 7 Monologue 9 Year Old Caol Ila 2011 Scotch Whisky:
― More!
― Smoke dominates the aroma, but there's some lovely, complex elegance underlying everything, including a slight nuance of straw/hay on the nose. The smoke does veer more toward the bacon or meat side of things, but that's much more pleasant than when it goes toward burnt plastic for the peat notes. Pleasant aroma. Smoky phenols also evident in flavor, but not at a crazy high level. Nicely balanced with some sort of mildly sharp citrus note. Caramel. Wood in finish lingers with a sort of tannic character that rounds the flavor out and in the end blends back to a final smoke note that won't quit. Lovely.
― Smells and tastes like smoked meat. Not my cup of tea.
