A rare twenty-two year-old example of Lowland Single Malt in extremely limited quantities.
The premiss of Chapter 7 Whisky is simple — each cask of Whisky is unique. The wood, age, temperature, its location in the rick-house… everything tells its own story. Large Scotch producers marry casks in large vats before bottling so that the master blender can try to make them all taste the same. The folks at Chapter 7 Whisky think that’s a shame.
Chapter 7 is the brain-child of Selim Evin. He thinks that each cask should tell its own unique tale, so he travels to Scotland and Ireland to hand-select single casks from the inventories of the world’s greatest distilleries. Then he custom bottles each one with its own story. How many bottles you ask? Well, until the barrel is empty.
We love all the specs of this Single Malt. First, it’s an independent bottling from a single orphan cask of Lowland Single Malt. That means that there are only 199 bottles in total. That’s it. Next, it's a crazy twenty-two years old. Since it’s an Auchentoshan, it was triple-distilled and aged in an ex-Bourbon cask — #100155. And because it’s from Chapter 7, it is bottled uncut at 51.8% ABV.
Chapter 7 Monologue 22 Year Old Auchentoshan 1998 is something special my friends.
Smartass Corner:
Chapter 7 has organized their releases into three categories. "Monologues" are single cask releases with a strictly limited quantity. "Anecdotes" are small batch or select blends that cannot be reproduced. Finally, "Chronicles" are small batch releases that are reproducible.
