A relative newcomer, you have found your first premium Rum from Mauritius.
Beachcomber Resorts and Hotels owns several hotels on the island Mauritius in the Indian Ocean. In 2008, they established their own Rum distillery on the island — The Chamarel Distillery — employing sustainable farming practices to grow their own sugarcane. Initially, all of the production went to support the needs of their portfolio of hotels. But demand from guests returning home have inspired them to increase production and export their range of estate Rums and Liqueurs to thirsty fans around the world.
An interesting fact about The Chamarel Distillery is their “just in time” harvesting method. Once fresh sugarcane is cut in the field, it's placed into the juice-presses within four hours. This freshness of the harvest adds a great deal to the delicate, aromatic notes of the Rums. Chamarel Premium Gold Rum is their signature spirits aged for eighteen months in oak. You can taste the essence of the island in each sip.
