Centennial is unique among Canadian Whiskies. Where most use mostly rye or mostly corn as the base, Centennial uses wheat with rye. This dials back both the spicy heat of the rye, and the sweetness of the corn.
What is left is a mellow, soft, caramel flavor profile. Their stated goal was to create a “smoother, richer rye Whisky.” They may have reached the mark.
The spirit is aged in charred oak for a minimum of three years. The final product is delivered in a tall, slender bottle that is almost Wine-like. And the ABV is a standard 40%. Look for notes of warm pumpernickel bread, with a dash of honey followed by a crisp finish.
