I was excited for this, having enjoyed rye gins I have found previously, but it's just terrible. It has an overwhelming note and after taste of licking an envelope. It's not undrinkable, but it's not worth drinking.
Had an off-putting fruitiness to it neat, but made an amazing old-fashioned. Unfortunately, it's a bit too expensive as a mixer and it doesn't hold up as a sipper.
Fantastic sipping. Mello with enough rye to add a bit of fire. Not overly complex but an excellent price for what you get. And what you get is a Rye with balance, and flavor.
Great carmel aroma. I liked it before the glass hit my lips. The 58% was more than welcome as I sampled it as a nightcap.
As others have noted I think it will be best enjoyed with a splash of water or over ice.
Not as spicy as other rye whiskeys and a bit smoother than most. Maybe even a little sweet? I really enjoyed this. Honestly I don’t get the harsh flavors that many people here have noted.
Honestly, I was skeptical when trying this. I wasn’t sure about rye having not liked a couple others that I have tried in the past. This spirit has opened the door to rye. It’s definitely the best I’ve had and will be branching out into others now. Thanks Flaviar
A fairly sweet Rye that still has the characteristic spicy finish that I love in a good Rye. All in All an extremely good spirit especially for those new to Rye Whiskey.
I’ve had a few bottles of this whiskey over the years. The evolution of this fairly young distillery has been an interesting ride. I enjoyed every bottle. This is an easy sipping rye.
Not too bad, not too good. Middle of the road that really leaves me with little to say. Butter and bread notes are strong. Smell is almost overpowering.
A very nature driven aroma, beautiful. light lemon, buttery and caramel taste. After taste is good, felt like I took a bite out of a loaf. Not so long lasting or as spicy as I prepared for, but a good glass of whiskey for sure.
Juniper with underlying lavender on the nose. Flavors start sweet and floral up front, progressing to juniper, pepper, cinnamon and licorice. Finish is long and semi-dry with juniper, citrus rind and a bit of grain character. It's 100 proof nature lends it a nicely warm (but not harsh) burn. A nice contemporary gin, while still having a classical juniper backbone. Makes a very crisp G&T.
4 stars with water. Initially tastes like acetone. Water opens up the aroma and flavor, giving it a more rye bread and woody taste. Very strong finish.
