Top reviews for Catoctin Creek Roundstone Distiller's Edition Rye Whisky:

― This is a fantastic rye!

― This was a fun a dram. Spicey rye on the nose, then fruit on the palate gave way quickly to me to cinnamon, caramel and honey with that typical rye warmth in the back of the palate. It’s a bit more rough though as it is only 2 years old. I would love to try a 4-6 year old of this to even it out some.

― Sitting in a hotel in Hull, Massachusetts, drinking this out of a plastic cup (didn't think it necessary to bring our glencairn glasses on a short trip), so I can't articulate the nose all too well, but it has a warm and inviting scent. Tasting, as many others, via the whisky advent calendar, and I think this is quite a nice evolution over the first day's dram. The flavor is a bit more complex, it has the quintessential rye spice without being too harsh, and the honey aspect leaves a nice lingering taste. I am noticing the honey, cinnamon/baking spice, ginger, and marmalade the most, with what I suppose could be the fruity/strawberry as well, but it isn't as strong of a flavor for me. All in all, good quality rye, but it is a rye, definitely not for the weak spirited!
