A perfect 46% ABV version of the multi-award-winning Roundstone Rye.

Becky and Scott Harris founded Catoctin Creek Distillery in 2009 in the back-woods of Purcellville, Virginia. Scott worked in software and Becky was a chemical engineer. It was Becky’s passion for the fermentation and distillation process that brought this couple out of corporate American and into your liquor cabinet. From their little distillery by the creek they produce a range of ten Spirits, including Rye Whiskies, Brandy, Gin, and a handful of other drams.

The Roundstone Rye from Catoctin Creek is a great dram and multi-award-winner. But one in every ten casks is set aside for a special release. Catoctin Creek Roundstone Distiller's Edition Rye Whisky is a (perfect) 46% ABV version of the original culled from hand-selected casks. So, like its siblings in the Roundstone lineup, it is made from 100% rye grain mashed, fermented, and distilled on site and aged for two years in new oak.

Rye - think of it as Bourbon's edgier cousin. It’s known for what many call a spicy or fruity flavor. Rye (distilled from at least 51% Rye) is not on the sweet side and tends to have a spicier body. That’s why the character of a cocktail made from Rye, instead of Bourbon, is drier.
Rye sparked the first revolution after the American Independence. It was called the Whiskey Rebellion, and it arose when the government tried to tax Whiskey and enforce the taxation on distillers. The lesson here? Don't mess with a Whiskey drinker's dram.
A decade ago there were only 6 brands of Rye Whiskey hailing from Kentucky, nowadays there are more than 50!
Roundstone Rye caught the attention of Jim Murray -- author of "The Whisky Bible" -- who called it "A huge Rye! Great fun!"
George Washington famously loved his Rye Whiskey. In fact, after he served as the first president of the United States, he returned to his farm at Mount Vernon and started a small Rye distillery of his own.
