Casa Dragones is a small batch Tequila producer with an interesting history. The Spirit is made in Tequila, Jalisco, but their spiritual home is located in La Casa Dragones in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico — the original home of a famous calvary who ignited the Mexican War of Independence in 1810. Bertha González Nieves is the co-founder and CEO, as well as the first woman to be recognized as a Maestra Tequilera by The Tequila Regulatory Council.
There is a LOT to love here. The Spirit is great and traditional and 100% Blue Weber agave and hand-crafted and yadda yadda yadda. But the magic here — what sets this Tequila apart — is the wood.
Casa Dragones Añejo is a blend of two styles of aged Tequila: the first style is aged in custom-made French Oak barrels and the second is aged in custom-made American Oak barrels. At the end of the aging process, they blend both styles together to create their Barrel Blend. Because Oak barrels are expensive things, they get used and reused. That’s really why so many Spirits use ex-Bourbon casks — there are a lot of them. The problem is that as awesome as ex-Bourbon casks are, they make everything taste a little bit like Bourbon. That’s not a bad thing. But NEW custom-made casks mean that you get to taste this exceptionally fine Tequila as pure Tequila. Agave, oak, and time… Boom!

The Flavor Spiral™ shows the most common flavors that you'll taste in Casa Dragones Añejo (375ml) and gives you a chance to have a taste of it before actually tasting it.
We invented Flavor Spiral™ here at Flaviar to get all your senses involved in tasting drinks and, frankly, because we think that classic tasting notes are boring.
The number 16 holds significant importance for Casa Dragones Tequila. General Ignacio Allende was a leader of the Dragones who worked closely with Father Hidalgo in Mexico’s Independence movement. On September 16th, 1810, Father Hidalgo delivered his famous independence speech. This important date in Mexican history is honored with a ‘16’ on every label and on the bottom of every Casa Dragones Blanco bottle. Coincidentally, 16 is also the number in the address at La Casa Dragones.
