Antonio Benedetto Carpano was a young man studying to be an herbalist near Turin, Italy. In 1786 he assembled a sweet concoction that changed the Aperitif and cocktail-making world — he invented Vermouth. He opened a Wine bar and served his invention which became remarkably successful. The family business thrived and continued to grow. Today Carpano owns a wide variety of specialty Spirits and their own distilleries — including Fratelli Branca Distillerie.

Carpano Antica Formula Vermouth is the signature Spirit that started the entire Carpano empire. It has been called the world’s most beloved Sweet Vermouth. Aside from the well-known vanilla, the exact recipe is a secret. But we know that the base Spirits is white Italian grapes — Romagna, Puglia, and Sicily varietals. The botanicals are extracted separately using hot and cold processes. The flavor profile is unlike anything else on the market.
