When the king granted you a royal license to distil literally 400 years ago, nobody would blame you if you rested on your laurels just for a bit. But that doesn’t seem to be the Bushmills way.

One of the most recognizable (for the pop reference aficionados, watch closely and you might just notice that the cool guy in the movie is actually holding a glass of Bushmills) and enduring Whiskeys out there, Bushmills was born in a small village on the Causeway Coast, Ireland. The craft has always been an integral part of the village life. It has remained the same throughout the years, even though the owners have changed and the distillery has survived everything from a dry spell a. k. a. the Prohibition, a massive fire that burnt the place to the ground and an obscenely high tax on barley in 1850s. The craft was passed on from generation to generation and 400 years later, it doesn’t seem that Bushmills is going anywhere anytime soon. Phew!

The Original Irish Whiskey is the classic Irish blend and its recipe dates back to pre-Prohibition times. It is a combo of Bushmills Single Malt Whiskey and a lighter grain Whiskey. Triply distilled and matured in Bourbon and Sherry casks, the Original is the cornerstone of their collection. You know, a bit like an almond latte is to an L.A. coffee shop. With notes of fresh fruit and vanilla, this is an approachable Whiskey, but its rich, smooth and warming taste add the depth and complexity, typical of the classic, original Irish Whiskeys. As classic as it gets, it is no wonder the cool guy in the movie is ordering Bushmills.

Smartass Corner:
The village Bushmills was named after the mills on the River Bush that runs through the village. There are many pop references to Bushmills, one of them being in the movie Verdict where Paul Newman orders Bushmills and water.
