ExploreFrom the sea-weathered shores of Islay to the misty Highlands, these are the essential “guid auld” Whiskies to accompany any Scot(ch) gathering.
Explore the famous 5 Whisky regions (or is it 6?) and find one that thistles your fancy.
“Glens a Plenty.”
Due to a great abundance of natural resources, Speyside is the most densely populated Whisky region in the world and home to over half of Scotland’s distilleries. The malts here range from light and grassy to rich and Sherried.
“Untamed Power”
Wild seas, impenetrable moorland, and misty mountains make the biggest of Whisky regions the perfect breeding ground for powerful, bold, and peaty malts. This vast area boasts a rich variety of distillery styles so the best way to decipher Highland Whiskies is by tasting your way through all 4 compass points.
“Refined Company”
Known also as the home of golf, Lowlands are master of the Whisky blend. Soft and smooth, easy-drinking malts are kings here—or should we say queens since their delicately sophisticated character made them known as “the Lowland Ladies”.
“For Peat’s Sake”
The southernmost island of the Inner Hebrides is best (but not exclusively) known for its distinctively smoky malts, the result of malting barley over burning peat. The southern versions are full-bodied and briny, while the northern ones are dry and far less peaty.
“Few but Precious.”
Once known as “the Whisky capital of the world”, only 3 out of more than 30 distilleries remain today. But they make up for it by producing 5 very distinctive and diverse Whiskies between them. Campbeltown’s trademark style may have briefly fallen out of favor, but it is sought with fervor today.
“Tasteshifters Ahoy!”
Technically part of the Highlands, these present the most scattered collection of distillery locations. Tempered by saline shores, brewing storms, and the purply peated moors the Islands’ malts are as varied as the stormy waves surrounding them.
Celebrating Scotch on Burns Night only would be silly. Grab a dram from Chapter 7, a unique multi-award winning independent bottler with a mission to find one-of-a-kind and unforgettable barrels of Whisky for you and share the joy of the Scottish drink with every sip, every day.
