Delicious! I just added 6 cold drops of water and let it sit for 30 seconds. It really opened up. Delightful! The sherry barrel they used to age it isn’t a super sweet one but rather a wholesome one. This Scotch came out wonderfully!
Best smoky scotch. Smooth with a wonderfully long finish.
love the peat smoke on this bottle! will definitely make you want to fire up the grill!
Lighter Lagavulin 16, less overwhelming.
Very nice peat, leather, burnt sugar on the nose. Taste brought me a good midsized portion of smoke, charred oak, and a touch of that medicinal/Band-Aid flavor that I don't care for. Finish was long and semi-dry with a hint of charcoal. Good overall but not my favorite. Wish the flavor had a tad more sweetness to cover up that medicinal quality.
Tastes like drinking a campfire that got rained on.
ohh this is a good one. I love the pure smokiness.
I had a glass of this in Seattle last year, then finally decided to pick up a bottle for myself. It was an impressive drink. Between now and then I've discovered both: 1) this whisky has been supplanted by a new Toiteach A Dha , and; 2) another similar-bodied Islay whisky that I find superior.
On the flavor / profile, this is a medium-body Islay malt. For me, I need an ice-cube or a bit of water; don't get me wrong, it's pretty smooth but is improved around the edges by cooling it down. The flavor is nice enough and I assume you can read more about the taste from the other 122 ratings.
I'm happy to have purchased a bottle, but won't seek another out when it's gone.
one can never go wrong with a Bunn' :)
so smooth and such a great nose and just a perfect finish
I love peat and smoke, and this is an excellent easy drinking Islay Scotch. I gravitate toward the extremes--Laphroaig Cask and Ardbeg Correyvreckan are favorites--so the flavor here is relatively low key for me, but the up-front smoke and hint of sweetness on the finish are both very enjoyable.
This was wonderful - it was smooth, smoky, and had the perfect amount of vanilla! Definitely enjoyed sipping on this one.
I liked the idea of a smoky scotch, after this I shall steer clear of the smoke. To me, this was more of a distillate of something in the barnyard that was burnt and then smothered by wet wool. The after taste seems tediously long. I've enjoyed Highland Park Dark, Oban, Arbelour and MaCallan 12 more than this.
Very smoky, maybe just a bit too smoky for my taste and a strong bite. Otherwise very flavorful and great after a long day at work.
For a peat and smoke lover, this was truly outstanding.
A smooth and smoky flavor that cannot be passed on!
Wow. Just wow. I love a good complex Islay, and this does not disappoint. Sweet, peppery, salty, smoky, truly wonderful. The balance is delightful and the finish is long and superb. Buy this now. A steal for the price.
This is by far the smoothest scotch I have ever had the pleasure of tasting. I was going to share this with a couple of friends, but decided against the it since I am selfish. I will definitely order another bottle.
Over 50 year's of loving Single Malt Scotch, this one won the highest award with my husband. He loved it and we ordered more!
Brilliant! Almost perfect balance between smoke, salt, and fruit. i usually find beverages above 42% ABV too "hot" to enjoy without water, but this is the exception. Perfect just as is it. Enjoy!
This was one of my first bottles of scotch, and oh my what a bottle to start with. The description fits it perfectly, smells like a charcoal smoke, tastes like freshly grated peppercorns, and nails the landing with a fruit flavor. Open for special occasions.
Wowza. Adding to top faves list. Redefines peat in a sophisticated and enticingly smooth way. From nose to palette to finish, it's a beautiful journey meant to be shared for truly special occasions.
This is a really robust Scotch Whisky. It has prominent smoky peaty flavors with a long smooth finish. It reminds me quite a bit of Lagavulin 16 year old Scotch as comparison which doesn't disappoint by any means. I am a fan!
A superb expression. The Bunnahabhain provides complexity like an avalanche of honey. Sweet from the start, balanced by a mature peat that is never sharp or overpowering. Tall notes of leather with a lingering apricot finish. Absolutely a top five scotch for me this year.
One of my favourites. A complex whisky that really opens up with a couple of drops of water.
May have become my all time favorite, it is full of fire, with a touch of sweetness. Almost perfect with a long finish.
