Das Experiment - Bourbon style brought to you by the distilling giant, Buffalo Trace. How to most accurately diagnose the effect of the individual parameter in Whiskey making on the final dram? Here’s how
they took on the task.
96 American oak trees became 192 uniquely charred barrels from different wood sections that were filled with various Whiskeys at various entry proofs. That’s how we now have 192 expressions of singular Bourbon.No. 10 entered the barrel from the bottom half of the tree at 125 proof. What came out is a decadent Rye sip with a unique structure. The texture is interesting and gives an oily first impression, the tasting notes are fruity with a sweet-ish twist, and the finish is - oh, so smooth.

Bourbon was declared "The Official Spirit of America" by an Act of Congress signed by President Lyndon Johnson in 1964.
Bourbons have very prominent notes of vanilla, as American White Oak is naturally high in vanillins.
Whisky or Whiskey? The spelling differs geographically. In Scotland, Japan, and some other parts of the world, distilleries usually spell it Whisky; in Ireland and the USA, they spell it Whiskey.
Straight Bourbon must be matured for at least 2 years. If a bottle has no age statement, it’s at least 4 years old.

Sure, Kentucky gets all the press when it comes to Bourbon. And with good reason—nearly 95% of it is produced there. But Bourbon can be made anywhere as long as it's within the United States. Just ask states with budding distilleries like Illinois and New York.
