Heavy peat!!! Smooth and nice lasting finish!

I love this monster!!!

Bill
Bill,
A peat bomb, kind of on the harsh side neat, but with a little water or ice it opens nicely and harshness subsides a bit. Interesting dram, but I think I prefer the more subdued(and less expensive) Port Charlotte release from them

Patrick
Patrick,
Very strong but still smooth. Prefer the 8.1 to this though.

Jyrki
Jyrki,
Extremely smoky. You can almost feel the charcoal bits in your mouth. Sweet aftertaste.

Oystein
Oystein,
Excellent!

Todd
Todd,
It lives up to the hype. It's a truly potent peated whiskey, and tastes of craftsmanship on every level. However, the amount of peat can overwhelm the other flavors in the spiral if you're not a huge peat fan, and the amount of peat can sometimes trigger heartburn. It was wonderful to try, and I'd certainly recommend it, but it's not something I would stock regularly in my home bar.

Jose
Jose,
Really Smokey flavour at the end, but at the same time with a vanilla flavour.

guest,
Amazing. Went to the top of the peat spectrum and wasn’t disappointed. Peaty, but smooth like Aberlour A’bunagh

Garry
Garry,
One of the best octomore I have tried.

Zack
Zack,
My first foray into the Octomore series. I'm a big peat lover and this packed a wallop. I agree that it's best tasted neat at first, but I thought it opened up nicely with a drop or two of water and revealed some flavors other than over-the-top peat. I really enjoyed this.

Bryan

Amazing!

Michael,
Love the peat.

Alon
Alon,
Has a much stronger kick than the 07.1. I love it, but drinking it alongside the 07.1, I think I prefer the 07.1. The 08.3 is a little more oily, which I like. It's amazing how relatively smooth this scotch is given the ridiculous alcohol content. BTW - did you know that phenols are powerful antioxidants and are good for you??

Henry
Henry,
I really dig peaty whisky. The Octomore 7.1 currently sits at the throne. It's the one that opened my taste buds to the enjoyable world of peat. Only downside is that I'm now spoiled and it might be difficult for me to enjoy cheaper Scotch. The 8.3 is excellent. Not as good as the 7.1 but I still think it deserves a 10. It's amazing how high they bottled the alcohol %, yet it's amazingly smooth. Do not jump the gun and add water or ice. Experience it neat at first.
Henry
Henry,
Update: a drop or two of water opened it up very nicely. Still amazing how little smoke you get on the nose. It's like inhaling the Islay salty ocean air...but once you take a sip, a train of phenols hits you. Neat or with water, both fantastic.
