This is arguably Brugal’s most popular Rum — with good reason.
Don Andrés Brugal Montaner founded Brugal & Co, in 1888 in the Dominican Republic near Puerto Plata — Silver Port — on the north side of the island. Five generations of the family have worked the stills and warehouses over the last 130 years. Only family members are allowed to be “Master Roneros” (Rum Masters). The current generation Master Roneros are Jassil Villanueva Quintana — the first female to hold the position — and her cousin Gustavo Ortega Zeller. They continue to produce highly regarded Rums in the local tradition across a range of seven finishes and styles.
Brugal Añejo has long been one of the most popular Rums in its Dominican Republic home base. But the world has started to take notice and this — arguably the most popular Rum in its lineup — is now appearing in all the hottest bars and clubs across the UK and Spain. It’s made from the lightest distilled Rum spirits and aged five years in ex-Bourbon casks. It’s lighter and smoother than most Rums in it’s class and only lightly sweet. It’s also a great value. So if you haven’t tried it yet, get your hands on a bottle or two and thank us later.
Smartass corner:
The Dominican Republic has had to achieve independence five times. A new constitution was ratified just a few years ago in 2015, bringing political stability and governance to the nation for the first time.

What does Brugal Añejo taste like?

The Flavor Spiral™ shows the most common flavors that you'll taste in Brugal Añejo and gives you a chance to have a taste of it before actually tasting it.

We invented Flavor Spiral™ here at Flaviar to get all your senses involved in tasting drinks and, frankly, because we think that classic tasting notes are boring.

Dog Dogson's
Rum is why we measure alcohol proof. To make sure Rum wasn’t watered down, it had to be ‘proven’ by soaking gunpowder with it. If it was ‘overproof’ (higher than 57.15 % vol.), then the gunpowder would ignite, if it wouldn’t, it was ‘underproof’.

Ratings & Reviews
Not for sipping neat. Could be ok with rocks or water. Best used as a mixer for solid cocktails.
This is another rum for mixing. My suggestion is not for sipping by itself.
Very good rum... I just don't love rum
