Brooklyn be Ginin'.

The Brooklyn Distilling Company was established in 1895 for the purpose of manufacturing spirits from molasses and the waste products of the sugar industry, but was closed in the early 1900s and disappeared from the public eye. However, the company has recently been revived and is now producing Brooklyn Gin - their first product in over 100 years.

Produced at Warwick Valley Winery & Distillery, New York's first licensed distillery since Prohibition, Brooklyn Gin is distilled from grain and infused with hand-cracked juniper berries, freshly cut citrus peels and other locally sourced botanicals. Crisp, clean and balanced, Brooklyn offers bright fruit notes supported by a bold juniper backbone which lingers through the smooth, dry finish.

With hand peeled and hand cracked juniper, this is a rich and lively Gin. The juniper is fresh with a rich pine dullness that is set off perfectly alongside the tangy, sweet citrus peels. This gin is wonderfully smooth and easy going while at the same time rich and flavorsome. The hand made nature of the drink really adds to the taste.

What does Brooklyn Small Batch Gin taste like?

The Flavour Spiral™ shows the most common flavours that you'll taste in Brooklyn Small Batch Gin and gives you a chance to have a taste of it before actually tasting it.

We invented Flavour Spiral™ here at Flaviar to get all your senses involved in tasting drinks and, frankly, because we think that classic tasting notes are boring.

Few Gin Distillers Make Their Own Alcohol. Gin usually starts with neutral spirit: A commodity that in distillers buy in bulk. It’s what the distiller does with this commodity in the flavour-infusing process that makes each Gin different.

Antti
Antti,
It is an outstanding, crisp, Small Batch Gin with a thick & slightly aromatic birth, while a rich life, leads to a to a long & mellow death.

Jordan
Jordan,
Well balanced juniper with sweet and bright citrus notes mostly grapefruit with a longer finish than expected. Nice by itself or with a simple cocktail (G+T) where it won't get lost

Joe

Refreshing after a long hard day at work. From the moment you pop the top and the smell of citrus and juniper hits your nose you know your in for a real treat!

Pretty good, even for someone who isn't a huge fan of gin. Nice and mellow with some good citrus.

Michael,
Juniper heavy but drinkable - great summer gin

Corey
Corey,
Brooklyn Gin didn’t have that heavy turpentine flavor regularly associated with typical middle shelf or bottom shelf gins. The gin was a little sweet, had some nice floral notes, and finished smooth. It mixed well or straight on ice. My first gin purchase for over 20 years and I wasn’t disappointed. Would purchase again.

Paul
Paul,
I just drank this in NOLA a few weeks ago. Have to say, if there is no Leopold Bros on site - this would be my go to!

Michael
Michael,
Um, a REALLY heavy cork and metal cap. The cutting edge of taste is a bit of a shock but by the second glass it calms down. A bit. It makes a good gin and tonic if your tonic isn't mass produced. And it makes a strong martini. I especially liked it in a Vesper.

James
James,
Love this gin. So smooth I wondered if I forgot to add it to a drink. Will stay in my bar from now on.

Jeffrey
Jeffrey,
Gin is an acquired taste, like coffee. I found I enjoyed gin n' tonics in college, while most of my friends were drinking light beer. I graduated to martinis and negronis and am a gin man. This was the first time I tried Brooklyn Gin, and I loved it as a martini. It does have lots of citrus, which a bit of fresh lemon juice squeezed into the shaker really stands out. (NOT a lemon drop! Just a short spritz of lemon, really) I also enjoy Brooklyn's strong juniper flavors in that old bromide (but tasty nonetheless) Aviation. Use real Crème de Violet which you can easily get nowadays. But the icy gin and Marischino has a fabulous taste, and Brooklyn brings a full-bodied juniper shelf to hold the drink. Yes is has strong juniper... but ain't that what gin's about anyway?
