The newest collection from this legendary Islay distillery, launched in 2022, promised to release some of the Distillery's rarest expressions. The collection includes the last in the 50-year-old Vaults series, the Bowmore 1969, as well as the 2021 releases of Bowmore 30-year-old and Bowmore 40-year-old.

Bowmore 40-year-old is inspired by time and the sea front location of the Distillery. The colors and textures of Islay’s ancient stone and bleached driftwood are encompassed within this limited release deep mahogany Whisky bottled at a cask strength of 48.7% (97.4 proof). Upon pouring, a rich bouquet of honey, treacle, and exotic fruits combined with bees wax and caramel caress the nose, followed by a complex palate of pipe tobacco, chocolate, spices, leather, chestnuts, and pralines.

Limited edition: 1 of only 159 bottles released globally.

90% of all Scotch Whiskies sold are Blends.
Whisky distilling goes way back to 1494 when the first recorded batch was made by a posse of monks who acquired about 60 gallons of barley and decided to turn it into "aqua vitae". They created the first 1,500 bottles of Scotch in History.
During World War II, Bowmore was closed for production. But they opened up their dock and offices for a local squadron of RAF Flying Boats, for anti-submarine warfare operations.
Single malt stands for around 10% of the Scotch market. This is a malt containing only one grain, legally required to be barley in Scotland, and made at a single distillery.

A blended Scotch is a combination of different malts from different distilleries. It is typically made from grain Whisky but does include malt Whisky to give it a more complex body.
They pump the left-over heat from the stills, into a special insulated piping system, and send heat to a local swimming pool built inside one of their older warehouses. They leave it open for public use.
Is Scotch always Scottish? What do you think? Yes. The answer is yes.
