Bowmore’s classic Single Malt aged to twenty-seven years of perfection with half of that in Port pipes.

Islay is special. For centuries, all they had was the local barley, clear spring water, cut and dried peat to heat their homes, and the sea… always there was the sea. If you take all that and wring it into a barrel, you get Bowmore … a Whisky Spirit that clings to the memory of the barley, the peat, and the sea. The Bowmore Distillery is one of the oldest in all of Scotland. This storied distillery lies on the west coast of Islay, where the sea and native peat give rise to one of the most recognized smoky drams in the Single Malt Whisky world.

A few years back, Bowmore prepared a special series called "The Vintner’s Trilogy." This long-planned series used special agings and finishings in Wine casks to modulate the signature Bowmore Single Malt flavor profile.

If you saw a Bowmore that had been aged for thirteen years in Bourbon casks, you’d want to taste it. If you saw a Bowmore that had aged for fourteen years in Port pipes you’d want to have a dram of that too. Bowmore 27 Year Old The Vintner's Trilogy did BOTH — that’s a total of twenty-seven years in premium casks. And this luxurious dram is bottled at an exemplary 48.3% ABV for sipping nirvana.

During World War II, Bowmore was closed for production. But they opened up their dock and offices for a local squadron of RAF Flying Boats, for anti-submarine warfare operations.
Scotland is home to more than 20 million casks of maturing Whisky. That’s four for every person living there. Nuts!
Whisky or Whiskey? The spelling differs geographically. In Scotland, Japan, and some other parts of the world, distilleries usually spell it Whisky; in Ireland and the USA, they spell it Whiskey.
90% of all Scotch Whiskies sold are Blends.
Whisky distilling goes way back to 1494 when the first recorded batch was made by a posse of monks who acquired about 60 gallons of barley and decided to turn it into "aqua vitae". They created the first 1,500 bottles of Scotch in History.
Can Scotch go bad? Technically, an unopened bottle of Scotch can last forever. Air is the only true evil to Whisky; once the liquid is oxidized it is no longer immortal. After opening, as long as you store your Whisky in a cool, dry place, it will last another 5 years.
