Member Reviews and Ratings of Bowmore 15 Year Old Darkest
It was not what I expected it to be being used to heavily peated Laphroaig and Lagavulin. It took two tastings to understand that this was something much different, tasting more of the sea, but excellent in its own right. I have a new favorite!
An absolute favorite among Islay whiskeys in my opinion. Very well balanced peat like all Bowmore.
Love this scotch. It has a great balance of smoke, peat and sweet with a touch of sherry. I discovered this scotch last year and just ordered my 4th bottle. This one has a permanent place in my cabinet.
I thoroughly enjoyed drinking this whisky, and whilst not my favourite from the Isle of Islay, it is right up there.
I ordered Bowmore 15 Darkest and Flaviar sent me the regular Bowmore 15 when I asked for a refund for the difference of the bottles I got no response. I have canceled my membership and don't recommend the site to anyone who asks.
The name "Darkest" is for the old branding of the Bowmore 15. The new design simply drops it - you'll have a bottle with the new design. There's no difference in taste or process between "Bowmore 15" and "Bowmore 15: Darkest". Enjoy your dram!
Maybe Dan was looking for the ‘Darkest’ design bottle for his collection? Whisky collectors are probably your main market... The ‘Darkest’ bottles are getting hard to find. The fact the liquid inside is the same is sort of irrelevant, you are selling a product and if you need to substitute the item you should ask the buyer first. I find your reply a bit disconcerting to be honest. To me at least it shows a distinct lack of knowledge of your user base.
Hi Richard - just a head's up, I don't work for Flaviar! I'm just a guy who likes drinking whisky. You may well be right, and Dan wanted the bottle to collect. It's not something that I do, so didn't cross my mind.
Super smokey and peaty. I can taste the sea in it as well. I love it!
Fairly new to engaging in real peaty flavor but this really grew in me. Very smooth. Very tasty.
Really good, smoky yet smooth Islay Scotch. Won’t rip out your taste buds like Ardbeg or Laphroaig, but definitely for peat lovers. I like the richness and bit of sweetness on the finish as well.
The Scotch was surprisingly smooth. I usually prefer a smokier taste, but it opened my eyes to other possibilities.
I tend to prefer more Highlands and Speyside, but this bottle is fantastic. The peat is definitely there, but it doesn't overpower the taste. A very nice drink.
One of my favorite bottles ever. You have to be into peat obviously. Price/quality amazing
9.7 Excellent. My favorite.
Excellent, now my favorite.
Extremely smooth, Smokey but not overpowering. Very good addition to change up the flavor of scotch
Perfect. End of story.
I can really appreciate the complexity of the scotch but I’m not as much a fan of the peat and smoke. Well done scotch but not my cup of tea.
A lot of smoke and sherry with a bite at the end. A very good islay.
The peat flavor comes through very well but without overwhelming the other complexities in the taste. Inhaling the aroma and drinking this one fills the senses very well, and you can feel a delicious lingering of that in your nose for hours after finishing a glass. It provides a warm, refreshing experience.
Loved the peaty taste, the dark color and sherry made it a very good selection.
I love the peat aftertaste!
Amazingly good taste with a well balanced blend of character
This is a great dram, smooth, dark, lots of sherry and oak. Enjoy with a little water and a good cigar
Smoky, peaty, and sherry nose. Hints of honey, dark chocolate.
Could sit enjoying just the smoky sherry aroma indefinitely. I was able to best enjoy the flavor with a splash of water - otherwise the finish was too overwhelming.
Love this one
Amazing nose, almost orangey. Incredible peat flavour, nice and smokey mixed with a delicate flavour within.
Absolutely love the flavour within too, the middle flavour is divine.
Very good but the 12 year almost stands in league with the 15! Try both
Perfect blend of sweet notes with a bite at the end.
Lovely sherried peat! Leather, smoke, raisins and red fruits on the palate.
