A Whiskey Gift Set bound to lighten your Spirit!

Suffer from decision fatigue? We’ve all been there. So why not let your hair down and let experts choose a Whiskey for you?

Bootlegger Co Barrel Outfit is like a surprise box, but without the cheap chocolate and only excellent quality booze, none of it being a rotten egg. Pretty dreamy, huh? The folks behind this welcoming idea are founders Robert Davies and Brian Tung, who always claim Whiskey should be enjoyed thoroughly and thoughtfully. They have searched far and wide the country, from the mountains of Tennessee to the springs of Colorado, to handpick an assortment of three 200-milliliter Whiskey bottles that will expand your Spirit horizons. For more info and shameless stalking of the distiller’s website and social media, the gift box includes QR codes to dig up the backstories on the different Whiskey bottles and follow the Spirit’s journey from the producer to your doorstep. The bottles featured come from three great partners: Pennington and Co., Locke + Co., and The Catoctin Creek distillery.

Pennington Distilling Co.
Made by high school sweethearts Jeff and Jenny Pennington and founded in 2011, Pennington Distilling Co. is a craft distillery that produces high-quality Spirits in the center of Music City—Nashville, Tennessee. They built their distillery on the following core values: craftsmanship, quality and heritage, reflected in their small batch Davidson Reserve Tennessee Whiskey. It’s bottled at 100 proof and distilled twice; it features maple cookies and caramelized sugar flavors with a refreshing spearmint finish.

Locke + Co
Locke + Co. is made by two trusted buddies, Owen Locke and Rick Talley, who like to play with wood and drink high-quality Whiskey by the fire. They are experts in using Aspen stoves and discs, primarily native charred Aspen wood discs. This wooden addition brings out a unique flavor in Aspen Aged Rye Whiskey that is as silky smooth and comforting as their devotion to family and friendship. Clocking in at 45% ABV, this exceptional Whiskey features earthy forest scents, spicy rye and vanilla toffee, finishing off with a menthol sweetness on your palate.

The Catoctin Creek distillery:
Catoctin Creek is the love child of Scott and Becky Harris, a married duo who established their distillery in 2009. It has the honorable position of being the first legal distillery in Virginia’s Loudoun County since the testing times of Prohibition. Famous for its award-winning and pure Spirits, it features Catoctin Creek Roundstone Rye Whiskey Distiller’s Edition, which firmly stands at 92 proof and contains notes of spicy mint, butterscotch maple and rounds off with leather and oak notes.

Tennessee Whiskey closely parallels Bourbon, but final filtering through sugar-maple charcoal (called the Lincoln County Process) is what some producers say differentiates them. Tennessee Whiskey’s finish is sweeter and smoother than Bourbon.
Moonshine Whiskey is distilled from a varied mix of corn and sugar and is aged in Mason jars and jugs for the length of time it takes the customers to get home.
Bourbon rules refer to manufacturing methods rather than location. Bourbon must be matured in new and charred American white oak casks for at least 2 years. If the bottle has no age statement, the Bourbon is at least 4 years old. No coloring or flavoring of any type is allowed, and the mash bill must contain at least 51% corn.
Rye Whiskey is made from mash that is at least 51 percent rye. The grain gives Rye Whiskey its spicy, sometimes peppery, and bitter flavor. It was a big seller before Prohibition, and after decades in obscurity, it’s fashionable again. Fun fact: George Washington distilled Rye Whiskey at Mount Vernon.
An un-aged American Whisky is often called “white dog.”Sour Mash is the fermentation process by which a percentage of a previous fermentation is added to a new batch as a "starter" to get the fermentation going and maintain a level of consistency from batch to batch. A sweet mash means that only fresh yeast is added to a new batch to start fermentation.
