Bobby’s Dry Gin launched in 2014, but the story starts much earlier; in 1950, Jacobus Alfons – known to his family and friends as Bobby – moved to the Netherlands from Indonesia. He liked the Dutch Jenever he found there, but missed the taste of home, and so began adding Indonesian spices to his drinks.
In 2012, Bobby’s grandson Sebastiaan discovered a bottle and, fascinated by how his grandfather used to infuse Jenever, he set about making his own recipe. Bobby’s Dry Gin is made with eight botanicals from across the globe.
The Eastern botanicals (lemongrass, cloves, cinnamon, coriander, cubeb pepper) give a unique flavor, and are combined with the more traditional ‘West’ (juniper, fennel, rose hips). Bobby’s Gin is made at the Herman Jansen Distillery in Schiedam; the birthplace of Jenever.
