Luxco from St. Louis, MO, knows a few things about booze. Founded by David Sherman Sr. and Paul A. Lux in 1958, it now produces everything from Rum and Tequila to Vodka and Whiskey. This time, though, the main protagonist isn’t a distillery, but a man. John E. Rempe is his name and he’s a link between Spirit-making and science. Equipped with sharp senses and a degree in biology, he created Blood Oath, the ultra-premium Bourbon series for Luxco. So far, he concocted four Oaths, each promising it’s a product of a noble endeavor to find rare and magnificent Bourbons, both famous and forgotten. John protects his sources like an alphabet agency, so the origins of his blends shall remain a mystery. What we do know is that the fifth Bourbon offering is something, unlike anything we’ve tasted before.
The rare high-rye Spirit (only 15,000 cases planned) is a blend of three Bourbons: a 13YO rye Bourbon, a 11YO wheat Bourbon, and a 8yo rye that was finished for six months in Caribbean Rum barrels. The dark Rum sweetness is a fantastic twist to those well-aged Bourb’s. Each bottle comes with a natural cork and a hand-labeled certificate. It’s all presented in a nifty fire-branded wooden box. Expect dark fruits and citrus on the nose wan ith exciting palate and a lingering finish.

The Flavor Spiral™ shows the most common flavors that you'll taste in Blood Oath Pact No. 5 Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey and gives you a chance to have a taste of it before actually tasting it.
We invented Flavor Spiral™ here at Flaviar to get all your senses involved in tasting drinks and, frankly, because we think that classic tasting notes are boring.
J.B.'s father, Joseph W. Dant, invented a still made from a poplar log at 16, as he couldn't afford a copper still. Although crude, it worked exceptionally well!
Pinhooking means purchasing and rearing a foal based on its pedigree and either selling it or turning it into a champ racing horse. The same idea is behind Pinhook Bourbon: they source young Whiskey to mature and blend it into a blue-ribbon sipping Bourbon.
Speaking of breeding winner horses, two of Pinhook’s co-founders have horseracing in their DNA. Jamie Hill and Mike McMahon continue the tradition of their families as third-generation horsemen, owning a bloodstock agency and a thoroughbred racing company. Applying that knowledge to Whiskey just made sense.
