He was the spirits and cocktails columnist for The Atlantic magazine for eight years and is currently a drinks columnist with Imbibe and Garden & Gun.
He's also contributed to The New York Times, The Daily Beast, Wall Street Journal, American Scholar, American Archeology, and Wired. He was named the best cocktail and spirits writer at the 2017 Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards, and won a second Spirited award for his writing in 2021.
He’s a co-founder of the New Orleans Spirits Competition. Wayne lives in New Orleans mostly, and Maine otherwise.
