BLACKWOOD

Distillery
Founded in 2002
Blackwood Distillery was founded in July 2002 in the Shetland Islands. Their goal was to become the first Scotch Whisky distillery in the Shetlands. The company fell into administration in May 2008. The facility was in the process of producing Blackwood's Liqueur, Gin and Vodka.

A new company, Catfirth Ltd, was established to continue the Whisky business, and took over the remaining stocks of Whisky. But once again plans fell through. The stocks of the Vodka and Gin brands that were left over were sold to a company called Blavod Extreme Spirits, and Blackwood's was never operational again.

What does Blackwood taste like?

The Flavour Spiral™ shows the most common flavours that you'll taste in Blackwood Gin. It's based on all Blackwood drinks in our large database and gives you a chance to taste Blackwood before actually tasting it.

We invented Flavour Spiral™ here at Flaviar to get all your senses involved in tasting drinks and, frankly, because we think that classic tasting notes are boring.

The Shetlands were rumored to have been overrun by the Viking black-market trade. Many Spirits like Gin fell into the illicit hands of smugglers, traders and illegal distillers for centuries.
