A tasty way to help the community of Kentucky.

You know how plants are supposed to flourish more if you play them Mozart? Now imagine aging your Whiskey with music. What would you play? Metallica, of course. And that is what's really happening now: the original gangsters of metal just gave us their brand new Whiskey called Blackened American Whiskey. So metal, right? Before Master Distiller Rob Dietrich took over, the late Dave Pickerell, former Master Distiller at Maker's Mark, made a hardcore blend of American Bourbon, Rye, and Whiskey, tucked away next to subwoofers that blast low-frequency sound waves to enhance the molecules. And every new batch of five thousand bottles comes with a different Metallica playlist.

We know what you're thinking: just another rock star gimmick. Well, a 2017 study on Brandy and sound-aging actually says this thing works and Metallica's Whiskey in a jar-ow is really good. And while this blend of hand-selected, well-aged Bourbons & Ryes is finished with Hetfield's madness, it's matured in black Brandy casks, which brings apricot notes with honey and caramel flavors to this Bourbon-lead mosh-pit.

Made as a collab between Master Distiller Rob Dietrich and Angel’s Envy co-founder Wes Henderson, Blackened x Wes Henderson Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey was released to give back to the Kentucky community. A complex 6YO Kentucky Straight Bourbon that was finished in White Port Wine casks, Rob and Wes felt they needed to help their region after the 2021 devastating tornadoes. So, they created this cask-strength and non-chill filtered beauty to donate money and support the rebuild efforts in Western Kentucky. Blackened will donate $25,000 to the Team Rubicon organization, while Metallica and All Within My Hands will match this donation, making the overall total donation $50,000.

Bourbon only needs to be placed in a new oak container for a few seconds to be called Bourbon. Fresh from the still and unaged Bourbon is called a White Dog. Recently, many of the larger distillers have started packaging this harsh, clear grain spirit for sale.
"Remember that iconic poster from World War II showing Rosie the Riveter as a patriotic American woman doing her part for the war effort? Well, hundreds of businesses did their part too, and the Bourbon distillers stepped right up with ‘em.

Distilleries all over Kentucky and Tennessee were re-tooled to distill fuel alcohol and ferment penicillin cultures to treat wounded soldiers."
Bourbon must be made from a grain mixture that is at least 51% corn.

Limestone Branch Distillery, which produces Yellowstone Bourbon, also makes Minor Case Bourbon and Bowling & Burch Gin.

J.B.'s father, Joseph W. Dant, invented a still made from a poplar log at 16, as he couldn't afford a copper still. Although crude, it worked exceptionally well!

At any given time, there are more barrels of Bourbon in Kentucky than there are people. The population of the Bluegrass State is about 4.4 million. Today there are more than 5 million barrels of Bourbon sitting in the rick-houses of that Old Kentucky Home. That’s nearly 300 bottles of Bourbon per person, or about 60 gallons each.
