As we have repeatedly said, Black Bottle is a blend with a focus on Islay single malt Whiskies. But in recent years they have softened the flavor profile with Highland and Lowland Whisky to add balance and fruitiness to the overall character.

But make no mistake, you are getting a smoky dram here. It's just that has been blent to the more main-stream with a more complexity than before. It's now more of a "gateway" Whisky... if you like Black Bottle you can then graduate up to the Islay monsters.
