In the late 1990s through the early 2000s, A little company called Underdog Wine and Spirits experienced meteoric success.
They eventually sold to The Wine Group, who purchased their Wine brands, and Sazerac who got the distilled spirits business. In the mix was Big House Bourbon. Big House is currently distilled at Sazerac’s Barton Distillery.
It has a conventional formula of 60% corn, 35% rye, and 5% malted barley, and is aged a full six years. Big House is 45% ABV with solid notes of oak and baking spices with a creamy, pudding-like finish.
