Top reviews for Benromach 2009 Peat Smoke:

— It has just enough depth to make it interesting and wanting more. Smoke and fruit on the nose with a hint of pepper and smoke from beginning to end and a satisfying finish of sweet chocolate that puts a big smile on your face. If you think that Peated whisky is all about Laphroaig then tasing this one will help you change your mind... is it smokey, hell yes... is it heavy smoke that requires every second sip to be water, AKA Laphroaig, no this is subtle and deep. Hey, I love the heavy smoked Whisky and yet adore the smoothness of an Irish Whiskey, I go both ways :-) but do not ignore this great hand made peated dram from Speyside.

— Love it. Extreme spice and smoke right up front. This is down on the end of the spectrum with Laphroaig. If you aren't a fan of smoke/peat - you'll want to avoid this one.

Mark
Mark,
A good introduction to peated Scotch. Smokey, but not overwhelming. A little spicy, a little grassy, very smooth.

Roy
Roy,
Quite interesting and different to other peaty ones. I’m not sure I could have more than a couple though.

Jon
Jon,
Aroma had smoke as promised, tied in with sweeter hints of strawberries and vanilla, maybe a bit of chocolate. Flavour was pleasant with the smokiness which was quickly torn away with the pepper taste. Struggled to find other aromas other than a watery hint of strawberry.

Lawrence
Lawrence,
Salty and smoky
