Top reviews for Benromach 2009 Peat Smoke:

― It has just enough depth to make it interesting and wanting more. Smoke and fruit on the nose with a hint of pepper and smoke from beginning to end and a satisfying finish of sweet chocolate that puts a big smile on your face. If you think that Peated whisky is all about Laphroaig then tasing this one will help you change your mind... is it smokey, hell yes... is it heavy smoke that requires every second sip to be water, AKA Laphroaig, no this is subtle and deep. Hey, I love the heavy smoked Whisky and yet adore the smoothness of an Irish Whiskey, I go both ways :-) but do not ignore this great hand made peated dram from Speyside.

― Love it. Extreme spice and smoke right up front. This is down on the end of the spectrum with Laphroaig. If you aren't a fan of smoke/peat - you'll want to avoid this one.

― Tasty, both peaty and smooth, not as sweet as I read though. - Nose: Peat, smoke, clay - Palate: Wood, smoke, lots of tar, medicinal, salty - Finish: Smoke, pepper, medicinal"
