A wonderful blending experiment gone absolutely right.

Barrel Craft Spirits, a resident of Louisville, KY, has their eyes trained on unique and matured, cask-strength Whiskey and Rum. They source only the finest expressions of the two Spirits and carefully blend them into new untold stories. What they do is explore various methods of distilling, search for different types of barrels and maturing environments. Every batch is unique, unmistakable and limited. The independent blender and bottler has been winning awards left and right, from Whisky Advocate to San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

Their Whiskey-Rum specialization comes to life in Barrell Dovetail, a helluva blend of two Whiskeys: a 10YO Whiskey distilled in Indiana and finished in Dunn Vineyards Cabernet casks; and a 11YO Bourbon made in Tennessee with a double finish in black strap Rum barrels and LBV Port Pipes. It's obviously a flamboyant blend - and strong, too! It comes at 122.9 Proof cask-strength with a rich and smooth flavor profile. It's an imaginative experiment gone absolutely right, giving us one of the most impressive and unique blend at the moment.

What does Barrell Dovetail taste like?

The Flavor Spiral™ shows the most common flavors that you'll taste in Barrell Dovetail and gives you a chance to have a taste of it before actually tasting it.

We invented Flavor Spiral™ here at Flaviar to get all your senses involved in tasting drinks and, frankly, because we think that classic tasting notes are boring.

Nice finished Bourbon. Great for dessert

guest,
One of my top 5 favorites. Worth the price

Andres
Andres,
Dark cherry and spice smell. Dark fruit and raisin taste with black pepper back note

luke
luke,
The best finished bourbon ever. No doubts. Boeubon notes up front with a little spice, Rum notes mid palette, wine finish notes the finish I blinded it against a few others and it wasn't even close.

luke,
Oh and a little water
John
John,
This whiskey is incredible. Great nose, complex. A lot less burn than expected for such a high proof. Great flavors, cinnamon, Carmel, apple.

Mark
Mark,
The flavors were fine and overall the bourbon was good. I don't find it any better than many bottles for which I spend a lot less. Glad I tried it but likely not a repeat customer.

Craig
Craig,
Too spicy for my pallet. Spice overpowers most flavors for me. Still smooth and good smell.

John
John,
Wow! Such a world of flavor in this bottle! Cut with a little water...it's one of my favorites...and I've gifted friends with this and they have agreed.

Philip
Philip,
Excellent nose. Cherry, root beer, fruit, and licorice. I could smell this one all day. Flavor is hot at first, high alcohol content, sweet and spicy. Syrupy mouth feel, root beer, cherry.

Brendan
Brendan,
The finish is quite overpowering almost making this whiskey a high proof cocktail in a bottle. I do like sweet and winey notes so I like it, but I can see how it could be off putting or overpowering to some.

Richard
Richard,
This is really sharp. The flavors just bite into your tastebuds and not always in a good way. The bourbon notes are buried behind the rum and wine influences. It's not bad by any stretch but, as a bourbon fan, not really in my lane.

Jonathan
Jonathan,
The quality is definitely there. The complexity is definitely there too. As a board-certified wine snob, I appreciated the winey notes. At 123 proof this dram packs a mule kick! Add a few drops of water and things start getting interesting. The wine notes and tannins really come through the more water you add. It’s a fun experiment and worth the $80 I paid for the bottle.

Townes
Townes,
Very complex whiskey. Fun to play around with changes in nose and taste with proofing down. Water brought out tannins and sweet wine flavors for me.

Ben
Ben,
Amazing and complex

David
David,
Smooth and full-flavored with caramel, fruit and vanilla/almond. Finish is medium and the barrel comes through. Drank well for high proof bourbon! I wish the finish was longer.

David
David,
High abv burn balanced with sweetness and wine barrel.

John
John,
Thought I would try this after trying their Rye Whiskey which was fantastic. Absolutely loved this bourbon. Easy sipper with great character, long lasting finish.

Adam
Adam,
Beautifully smooth finish that has a unique darker flavor profile thanks to their barreling process, just an amazing bourbon

Spencer
Spencer,
Smooth with a nice finish

Michael
Michael,
The triple finish allows this high proof whiskey to go down ridiculously easy. It's the closest thing to dessert in a whiskey bottle.

Corey
Corey,
A delicious bourbon. Was not prepared for the slight burn due to the 126 proof, but it is more than enjoyable nonetheless.

Candace
Candace,
If you like the warm soothing sensation of a dark, full bodied wine, this bourbon is for you! Finishes smooth with a great aftertaste! This has been the only bottle we have ordered a duplicate of.

Daniel
Daniel,
Love the cask strength, it’s perfect with a couple pieces of ice. This is a great combination of sweet and spice, with a great depth of flavor. It’s like a warm cinnamon roll with butter in whiskey form. Worth the price. I’ll be getting it again.

Liz
Liz,
holy flavor bomb batman. If you like darker fruits, then this is your jam. Kinda tastes like jam as it hits you with a plethora of dark fruit notes after the burn of the alcohol subsides.

Shaun
Shaun,
Very good whiskey. The rum barrel finish gives it a nice flavor and complexity.

Benjamin,
A beautiful bourbon. I'm a sucker for finished bourbon and Dovetail does not disappoint. Lots of fruit flavor, cherry notes and red berries. Lots of layers to this bourbon. I'm a fan.

Jon
Jon,
Heavy with alcohol burn at first but opens up with some water to reveal great fruity and wine flavours with a smooth whiskey finish. Worth the price.
