Complex and unique Stellum Single Barrel Rye.

It takes a special kind of skillset to master the art of blending and sourcing the best premium Spirits around the world and the folk at Barrel Craft Spirits certainly seem to have it. Created in 2013 in Kentucky by Joe Beatrice who wanted to share his passion for unique, high-quality Spirits with the world, the BCS lads seek out the best leftovers there are and put them together to shine as their best selves. Award-winning stuff, we tell ya, with their Blended Bourbon for example single-handedly announcing the rise of the Blended Whiskey when it was awarded Double Gold at the 2020 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. The list of awards obviously doesn’t end there with Stellum Rye winning Double Gold at the 2021 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, Double Gold at the 2021 New York International Spirits Competition, Platinum Medal and the titles of "Best Rye Whiskey" and "Best Whiskey" at the 2021 L.A. Spirits Awards and scoring 94 points at the 2021 Ultimate Spirits Challenge. In 2021, Stellum Bourbon was awarded Gold medals in the same three competitions. It’s like okay, we get it, you make good Whiskey, right?

Stellum Single Barrel Rye Serpens L1 Flaviar Member Select began its journey in Indiana where it was distilled. After maturing for five years in new charred American oak barrels, it was bottled at cask strength of 117.04 proof in Kentucky in early spring of 2021. It’s at this point that the Flaviar Community comes in. Selected by our community of Spirit aficionados, this unique Single Barrel releases flavors of mince pie, quince jam, and roasted pecans that mellow out into pipe tobacco, black pepper, and a hint of tawny port.

A decade ago there were only 6 brands of Rye Whiskey hailing from Kentucky, nowadays there are more than 50!
Rye - think of it as Bourbon's edgier cousin. It’s known for what many call a spicy or fruity flavor. Rye (distilled from at least 51% Rye) is not on the sweet side and tends to have a spicier body. That’s why the character of a cocktail made from Rye, instead of Bourbon, is drier.
Rye sparked the first revolution after the American Independence. It was called the Whiskey Rebellion, and it arose when the government tried to tax Whiskey and enforce the taxation on distillers. The lesson here? Don't mess with a Whiskey drinker's dram.
George Washington famously loved his Rye Whiskey. In fact, after he served as the first president of the United States, he returned to his farm at Mount Vernon and started a small Rye distillery of his own.
