A unique pure Bourbon experience, available for Flaviaristas.

It takes a special kind of skillset to really master the art of blending and sourcing the best premium Spirits when the world is your oyster and the folk at Barrell Craft Spirits certainly seem to have it. Created in 2013 in Kentucky by Joe Beatrice who wanted to share his passion for unique, high-quality Spirits with the world, the BCS lads certainly enjoy being progressive. They do stick to tradition when it comes to the essence of Bourbon, though. This means no coloring, flavoring, chill filtering, or water. Just pure Bourbon. Some serious award-winning stuff, we tell ya. Case in point: their Blended Bourbon single-handedly announced the rise of the Blended whiskey when it was awarded Double Gold at the 2020 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

This is why Barrell Bourbon Single Barrel Flaviar Member Select is so special to us. As if we weren't falling head over heels for BCS already, The Flaviar community got the precious opportunity to choose one single barrel. It's like if David Bowie asked us to choose a song for his album. At first, we were so excited we thought there was no way we could choose our favorite one, but then we did. Barrel #Z2H4 is a 7-year-old Bourbon that comes at you at cask strength of 119.58 proof. Be prepared for a full-blown experience of pure Bourbon flavors with cinnamon, corn, savory cigar paper and dark chocolate leading on the rich, sweet, and creamy palate. And just like that, we were in love. Only 34 casks of this special dram were made.

"Remember that iconic poster from World War II showing Rosie the Riveter as a patriotic American woman doing her part for the war effort? Well, hundreds of businesses did their part too, and the Bourbon distillers stepped right up with ‘em.

Distilleries all over Kentucky and Tennessee were re-tooled to distill fuel alcohol and ferment penicillin cultures to treat wounded soldiers."
Bourbon matures quicker than Scotch due to higher temperatures in American warehouses.
Straight Bourbon must be matured for at least 2 years. If a bottle has no age statement, it’s at least 4 years old.
Bourbons are very high in vanilla, as American White Oak is naturally high in vanillins.
At any given time, there are more barrels of Bourbon in Kentucky than there are people. The population of the Bluegrass State is about 4.4 million. Today there are more than 5 million barrels of Bourbon sitting in the rick-houses of that Old Kentucky Home. That’s nearly 300 bottles of Bourbon per person, or about 60 gallons each.
Bourbon only needs to be placed in a new oak container for a few seconds to be called Bourbon. Fresh from the still and unaged Bourbon is called a White Dog. Recently, many of the larger distillers have started packaging this harsh, clear grain spirit for sale.
