Travelling enriches the mind and the soul. Now, while a lot of people use their list of places visited as flag to signal their virtues, others are content with keeping their enrichment to themselves, letting it speak up only when it actually enriches the experience at hand. The Bardstown Bourbon Company Plantation Rum Barrel Finished Bourbon will appeal to the second type of people.

This 10-year-old Tennessee Bourbon with a mash bill of 84% corn, 8% rye, and 8% malted barley, spent 22 months in Plantation Rum barrels. Does it boast about it? Many Rum barrel-finished Bourbons will boast their Rum notes to absolutely unbalanced levels. But not this one. This Bardstown and Plantation collaboration somehow found a way to balance both with precision and subtlety one can only hope to experience from a fellow traveler.

If you're looking for your next big trip, send your taste buds down this way.

"Remember that iconic poster from World War II showing Rosie the Riveter as a patriotic American woman doing her part for the war effort? Well, hundreds of businesses did their part too, and the Bourbon distillers stepped right up with ‘em.

Distilleries all over Kentucky and Tennessee were re-tooled to distill fuel alcohol and ferment penicillin cultures to treat wounded soldiers."
Straight Bourbon must be matured for at least 2 years. If a bottle has no age statement, it’s at least 4 years old.

Limestone Branch Distillery, which produces Yellowstone Bourbon, also makes Minor Case Bourbon and Bowling & Burch Gin.

Bourbon Is a ''new barrel Spirit'': One of the legal requirements for Bourbon is that it only be aged in brand new oak charred barrels.
Bourbons are very high in vanilla, as American White Oak is naturally high in vanillins.

Yellowstone Bourbon has had several owners throughout its history, including J.B. Dant, D.H. Taylor, The Glenmore Distillery, United Distillers & Vintners, the David Sherman Company, Heaven Hill, and David Sherman (now known as Luxco).
