About the Flavor Spiral
What does Balvenie Over 8 Year Old 1970's taste like?

The Flavor Spiral™ shows the most common flavors that you'll taste in Balvenie Over 8 Year Old 1970's and gives you a chance to have a taste of it before actually tasting it.

We invented Flavor Spiral™ here at Flaviar to get all your senses involved in tasting drinks and, frankly, because we think that classic tasting notes are boring.

Scotch Whisky is seldom aged in new barrels. Bourbon and Tennessee Whiskey casks are usually used for maturation. In addition to that, Whisky is often matured or finished in various wine casks such as Sherry or Port.
There are more than 120 active distilleries in Scotland. Of those, only six have their own malting floor, and Balvanie is one of them.
Is Scotch always Scottish? What do you think? Yes. The answer is yes.
Categories of Scotch Whisky: Single malt, Blended malt (formerly called Vatted malt), blended, single grain and blended grain Scotch.
The Balvenie sits directly across from Glenfiddich, and they share the same water source -- the Robbie Dubh stream -- that runs into the Fiddich River.
First-class Whiskies are taxed not only by the state but also by the angels. This refers to the 4% of Whisky that evaporates from the barrels every year, a phenomenon known as the angel’s share.
