Member Reviews and Ratings of Balvenie 12 Year Old DoubleWood
Smooth, hint of the Sherry finish. Good for old fashioned. Mellows out when allowed to air
A great standby. Has everything I want in a whiskey. Sweet, complex, low bite.
Nice oak at the end of a straightforward honey and caramel profile. A good scotch to share with newbies.
Very solid. Has a nice burn. I can taste the Vanilla and the sherry
Best 12YO. Love it!
This was an interesting dram. Nose of warm spices, floral honey, creme brulee. Taste consisted of more honey, some general sweetness, and a nice light spice before a little oak. None of this was particularly complex or overly robust...but found it very enjoyable regardless. Just tasted like a good ol' non-peated scotch. 6.5/10
Vanilla and caramel on the nose, some oak, nice finish. Great dram on its own.
Sweet and rich
Calm and spicy flavor. Easy drink for a beginner (like me).
Long burn, in a good way, but not that many flavors
Vanilla dominates the nose. The aging in sherry oak is readily apparent- it is smooth and quite sweet. The finish is crisp- I would’ve preferred a longer finish with more spice notes
Nutty spices is bourbon. Slight spice note on the finish
Excellent “go-to” whiskey, especially if you are new to the scotch scene. Very easy to drink, and fairly complex for a younger dram. Buy it!
Really enjoy this.
Love the smooth sherry finish
Steady-eddy, perfect after dinner, no need for dessert!!
I have tried many many Scotch's and I find that my favorites are Balvenie 12 year and Macallan 12 year. My everyday Scotch is Johnny Walker Black. If you enjoy a good Sherry finish in your Scotch, you can't beat these!
Nose: Not much taste
Palate: Sweet, no strength
Finish: Soft, wooden
Really good Scotch for beginners 'cause of smooth and sweet taste.
