Top reviews for Balcones True Blue 100 Proof:

— This was my first try of Balcones, very much liked the True Blue. I tend to like the higher proof.

— Pure sweet caramel and corn perfection. This could be a starter whiskey for someone but in the 100 there’s a punch behind the sweet start. Might be the best of the always great Balcones lineup.

— Love the true corn flavor preserved in the process. You are transported to the harvest. It is hot and simple but with hidden complexity, so add a water drop, study it, and repeat, to progress through the flavor profile.

Jason
Jason,
Love the caramel corn nose. The flavor is burnt toffee with a long finish. Good, but the flavor is very different.

Thomas
Thomas,
this was an assault on my palate. Along with the other balcones. Would NEVER recommend. So glad i got them in a taster and did not buy the bottles.

Jeremy
Jeremy,
Wow! I love Balcones and this was the one I hadn’t tried. It did not disappoint!!! For an over-proof it is remarkably smooth. Sweet and tasty on the front with a smooth finish. Love it.

Bill
Bill,
Pay strict attention to the Flavor / Taste / Palate description, chocolate and old leather were particularly strong for me. Strong and only mildly desirable in my opinion.

Richard
Richard,
I'm a bourbon drinker and this is a very nice change of pace. Calm, buttery nose and sweet taste, definitely from the corn. Finish lingers a while, also.

Rebecca
Rebecca,
Super high in alcohol - tasted more like a bad tequila than a whiskey.

Amazingly smooth! Hints of chocolate and almond on the palate.

David,
Throughly unique and enjoyable. Glad I picked this up. I keep finding myself reaching for this bottle.

Scott
Scott,
Sadly this tasting box of Balcones has been the first time I have considered the Bourbon industry to be flooded with fakes ! Each of these tasted like flavored white spirit or moonshine. Lacked body, high alcohol content not the good kind, felt like I was tasting added flavourings vs real infused flavors

Jeremy
Jeremy,
Super interesting. I enjoyed drinking this, but can't rate it higher than a 7/10 because it simply wasn't the first bottle I reached for on any given day. I'm glad it exists in the world, though—Balcones is doing meaningful work, innovating American whiskies.

Jonathan
Jonathan,
A little bit of a bite from the alcohol at first but has really good and unique taste.

Bold and flavorful

Todd
Todd,
Nice. I usually prefer Scotch, but I could get comfortable with True Blue.

Anthony
Anthony,
nose: pot pourri, sweetness, banana bread, freshly made chocolate chip cookie dough (no joke), vanilla ice cream, cake, rich buttery baked goods, some big red cinnamon, really really nice balance palate:soft mouthfeel, banana bread, some spiced cake, burnt sugar finish: the cookie dough comes through, great balance of spice, sweet, long finish, get some banana bread, some burnt sugar, maybe a little salt but only in the balance of the cookie dough overall: this is truly delicious. its almost everything the st. georges tries to be but isnt. lots of great depth, spice and sweet and incredible flavors. its like taking childhood baking smells and putting them into 100 proof whiskey
