Character Goatson
This was distilled in 1988 at the Auchroisk distillery. It was aged in a very small "octave cask", which was made entirely without sherry wood (cask 770686). The result is a very unusual, rich whisky, with an outturn of 73 bottles, bottled by Duncan Taylor.

Auchroisk is a huge facility with a storage capacity of 265,000 full casks -- more than they currently need. So other distilleries contract long-term storage there.
The word "Auchroisk" means "shallow ford across the red stream" and the site was chosen for it's steady water supply from Dorie's Well.
Categories of Scotch Whisky: Single malt, Blended malt (formerly called Vatted malt), blended, single grain and blended grain Scotch.
First-class Whiskies are taxed not only by the state but also by the angels. This refers to the 4% of Whisky that evaporates from the barrels every year, a phenomenon known as the angel’s share.
Scotch Whisky is seldom aged in new barrels. Bourbon and Tennessee Whiskey casks are usually used for maturation. In addition to that, Whisky is often matured or finished in various wine casks such as Sherry or Port.
Whisky or Whiskey? The spelling differs geographically. In Scotland, Japan, and some other parts of the world, distilleries usually spell it Whisky; in Ireland and the USA, they spell it Whiskey.
