A precious and historic sipper.

It wasn't purely entrepreneurial nor (just) the Whisky fever that brought together David Thomson and Teresa Church ― the first a Scottish expat who was searching for a connection with his homeland, the second super-passionate about restoring old buildings. What brought them together was entirely irrational, a "love at first sight" that took them over when seeing the historic Annandale buildings back in 2006.

They couldn't quite wrap their minds around the reasons behind the distillery lying dormant for nearly a century. And neither would they let its position in Southern Scotland define their Whisky. Yes, it's the Lowlands, but hey ― why limit yourself to the light, mellow, and fruity style that the local barley supposedly imparts when transportation is such a non-issue in modern times?

The distillery now pours its love into 6 different brands: the 1st-tier Annandale Distillery, Man O' Sword & Man O' Words prestigious Single Malts, Vintage and Founders Selection, Rascally Liquor clear malt Spirit, and Nation of Scots blended Whisky.

Cask 40 - Man O' Sword was drawn from the very first batch of the prestigious Man O’ Sword. This is the first peated Whisky produced at Annandale Distillery in 90 years. Scottish Rugby icon Doddie Weuir filled the first cask of this historic Spirit in 2014. Three years later, 85 casks were yielded and 99 bottles were donated to the My Name'5 Doddie charity. Not many Spirits aficionados have the chance to get their hands on one of these precious babies but you can be one of them. It comes in a hand-made bespoke ash and metal display box made by Ian and Claire Cameron-Smith along with a booklet of Annandale’s history and tasting notes.

90% of all Scotch Whiskies sold are Blends.
Blended Whiskies are the result of years of craftsmanship and dedication. A master blender does not simply wake up one day with a profound ability to create a cohesive and enjoyable liquid. From nosing the liquid to working out quantities of each different grain and malt to go into the blend, a master blender can take years, if not decades, to train.
Can Scotch go bad? Technically, an unopened bottle of Scotch can last forever. Air is the only true evil to Whisky; once the liquid is oxidized it is no longer immortal. After opening, as long as you store your Whisky in a cool, dry place, it will last another 5 years.
90% of all Scotch Whisky released in the market is a blend. That’s a hell of a lot.
Annandale sits VERY close to the southern border of Scotland. In fact, if it were just two miles further south, it wouldn't be in Scotland at all and could not call its products Scotch.
Single Malt Scotch Whisky is made in Scotland using a pot still distillation process at a single distillery, with malted barley as the only grain ingredient. It must be matured in oak casks in Scotland for at least three years (most Single Malts are matured longer, though).
