— Not like other Laphroaig bottlings. It has a hickory bbq smokiness with less latex notes and a bit of sweetness that compliments the smoke perfectly

Chris,
Peat explosion on the nose and peat is the dominant first taste, followed by licorice and barley for me. I can see how this bottle has a lower average rating as it wouldn't be for everyone, but I really like it. It is a classic expression of an Islay scotch. The balance of this scotch handles the cask strength really well. At 54% it could suffer from too much alcohol heat but this scotch really doesn't at all. The heat reveals itself as a long lingering gentle warming sensation in the chest, not pucker-inducing, fire-breathing indigestion. The sweetness comes on late and will be appreciated by those that stick around for it.
For most this probably isn't the best scotch to sip neat, but would make the PERFECT addition to a home bar to serve as a smoky float in a rob roy or penicillin cocktail. I am buying this bottle exactly for that purpose.

Lawrence,
Smoke and peat hit you immediately. Spice and a hint of sweet lingers
Alex,
Fabulous scotch. Best of Laphroaig, but a little less medicinal, a bit of brine and a bit maltier. If you like Islay scotches you will not be disappointed.
Antti,
It is a very good, intense, 'Single Malt Scotch Whisky that has an aromatic birth; while a rich & spicy life that leads to a long & peaty death with notes of oak, earth & flowers.
Mark,
Not like other Laphroaig bottlings. It has a hickory bbq smokiness with less latex notes and a bit of sweetness that compliments the smoke perfectly
Tonia,
A little less peat, a little less medicinal. A bit more sweet. Really enjoyable.
Gregory,
This single malt is not for everyone. People who enjoy smokey or peat like flavor profiles will likely enjoy this. This single malt is semi-sweet and has a comfortable medium heat when held in one's mouth. Would likely pair well with smoked meats, barbecue like or earthy flavors (e.g. mushrooms).
Chris,
So much smoke you only have to open the bottle to know what this is going to taste like. Guess what, it tastes like a bonfire mixed with whisky!
Travis,
Good peat but seems thinner than laphroaig
James,
Smooth, not too spicy or sweet, delicious. Unfortunately has on off-putting musky odor.
Nic,
I nice mix of peat and sweet, a departure from your usual Laphroaig, in that the peat is a little subdued, the medicinal notes are muted, and the toffee takes centre stage, but fun nonetheless
Seth,
That’s an islay alright. Smokey upfront with a sweet finish. Really complex and delicious. I’m more of a highland guy but would drink thiss any day.
Nakeva,
Strong on the smoky and almost literally tastes like licking an ashtray. Not my taste for regular enjoyment, however, it may work well on a cold evening while enjoying smoked brisket and friends that smoke.
George,
flavor not like this one. Real strong petty taste and smokey flavor not my cup of tea.
Lee,
Peat and smoke.
Nathan,
I was excited to try this Scotch, until I smelled it and the smoke was so overwhelming that it reminded me of burnt olives... The flavor didn't change my mind a lot either. It was like sucking ash from a still-lit camp fire. I have a friend that likes VERY smoky Scotch and even he was overwhelmed by it. I'm sure it's a fine Scotch and has many admirers, but unfortunately, I'm not one of them.
Scott,
Love the Peat and smooth going Down!
Michael,
Just didn't have a lot of the great peaty attributes of other Laphroigs
Worth,
Way too much smoke for my taste. That was all the flavor I got, and I couldn’t get rid of it with two palate cleansers and another whiskey.
John,
Not my cup of peat
Scott,
Just not my thing...
richard,
Smooth at first with a definite hit of smoke. Next on the tongue is sweetness and then the heat/spice comes last.
Sarah,
I like how the peat flavor comes through and there’s a warmth that lingers
Zach,
So soft you don’t even feel it hit your tongue. Then it packs a sweet, peaty punch. More peat than a Laphroaig 10, but not at rich. Very tasty, but the Laph 10 is a better value at half the price.
Robert,
My type of dram. More peat than the 10 year and has a really great flavor to it. Sort of a sweeter 10 year with more peat. Less smoke than the 10 but super dynamic with the citrus, oak and tobacco notes. I would buy one to keep at the bar.
