Purity of Spirit.

Japan is a magical land, protected by the ocean, far away from everything we know and even understand. Solitude means purity. The purity of water, earth, and sky. Solitude also means purity of Spirit. Eigashima Distillery, located in the town of Agashi, just a stone’s throw away from Kobe Bay, is molded by these elements. Here, a couple of feet from the ocean, the owner’s family have been making Spirits for centuries. Eigashima Shuzo also holds Japan’s first Whisky license, issued all the way back in 1919, but to this day remains one of the country’s smallest Whisky producers. Quality over quantity is the motto. This is where we speak the same language.

Because even though some particularities remain lost in translation, we recognize quality when we see it. You see, Agashi Whisky is something special. The current copper pot stills were pressed into service a couple of decades ago, and that’s when focus on premium Whiskies began. Since this is the closest Whisky distillery to the coast, the ocean-laden air is reflected in the Whisky’s savory, saline driven purity. The impact of the local climate makes it a unique atmosphere to mature Whisky, with huge temperature differences between seasons. Nothing is left to chance. The distillery dedicates its whole meticulous production process to make the smoothest, most sippable Spirit possible. Worthy of its name and tradition. If you’re looking for a gateway into the wonderful world of Japanese Whisky, this would be a good place to start.

We have just the expression for you, too. Akashi Blended Whisky is a thoroughly enjoyable blend, aged in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, with perfect balance and character. Due to the limited output of the distillery, this is a terribly rare and exclusive bottle that represents everything we love about Japanese Whisky. Precision, craftsmanship, and tradition. The complete package. The magic is real.

Ratings & Reviews
Andrew
Andrew,
I ordered this off the heels of the Blended vol 2 box because the Togouchi was unavailable. I have never been so happy to pick a replacement bottle. Smoothest that I have tried with a refreshing sweetness. Would recommend to anyone. My current favorite.

Shernard,
Amazing flavor, amazing smell. Just the right amount of sweetness. Tastes like it should easily be worth 3 times the price.

Joe
Joe,
A bit of a fruity scent smooth finish no burning, spice of a star anise flavour

guest,
Sake, Vanilla, Carmel, and smooth, silky finish... it’s a everyday kind of Whisky.

Patrick
Patrick,
Very easy drinking. I heard that Akashi used to primarily be a sake maker. On that note, I can definitely taste the resemblance of bright rice notes in this whisky. Not complex at all however and doesn't have lasting strength. Just an easy drinker.

Thaine
Thaine,
Not my favorite whisky. I was expecting something smoky or peaty, but this has a very strong alcohol odor and finish.

Antti
Antti,
It is an outstanding, delicate, Japanese blended whisky with a sweet & creamy death of medium length.

Rudy
Rudy,
For the price a very good whisky, in my opinion, soft, smooth, easy to drink !

guest,
Certainly a great pairing with dessert. Not bad at all. Nice sweetness without being overbearing.

Ty
Ty,
Akashi blended whisky is tough to drink neat. I don't like to give poor reviews, but it's just not very good. The nose is decent, reminiscent of Johnnie Walker Black 12. Sweet and a little smoky. The palate and finish fall short though. The sweetness on the nose gives way to a note of cleaning supplies on the palate. Akashi has been relegated to being a mixer in my house, which means it's just sitting in my whisky cabinet not being consumed.

Appearance: Obviously coloured Nose: A hint of Vanilla? Palate: Obvious burning feeling. Poor Finish: Burning felling vanished Overall: Nth special in aroma and taste; the burning feeling dominated.

Alex
Alex,
Not too interesting on the nose but a sweet, easy-drinking whisky.

guest,
Not anything special, overly spicy over the honey and sweet notes. Very dull baking spice aroma. Not much floral even though there is a Sherry finish and believed to be 3yo in ex bourbon casks. Pass.

guest,
Smooth, light, sweety Japanese Whisky.
